#28toMake, Days 13, 14, and 15

 In Creativity, Inspiration

I spent a long weekend away in Connecticut. But I did manage to do the the #28toMake exercises, which were the same as last weekend—days 6 and 7. The first was the People Mad Lib, and the second was to do nothing. I’m not going to take the time to write about them though. You can read the previous posts if you’d like to get the gist of them.

With a new week beginning, there is a new creative giving the prompts—in this case, designer Lara McCormick. The task: create a mind map.

If you don’t know, a mind map is a diagram with a central idea and offshoots of information that pertain to it. I use these a lot when I’m brainstorming book designs, so I was very familiar. But today I did something a bit different; I used it to understand my photographic ambitions a bit more clearly.

As I move more toward a career in photography, I’m finding it difficult to narrow down my interests and focus on a particular area. I love shooting so many kinds of things, which makes it difficult to sharpen particular skills enough for getting to the next level. This mind map might not have completely answered my question, but it really did allow me to weigh the pros and cons of my favorite photo areas. Another productive exercise from CreativeLive!
