#28toMake, Day 3

 In Creativity, Inspiration

Today, Kate Bingaman-Burt‘s #28toMake prompt was to draw one of your favorite album covers. This is a fun one. I have so many albums that are favorites, but I chose to go with Wilco‘s Yankee Hotel Foxtrot. I remember hearing this for the first time when one of my co-workers in Seattle quoted a line from “I Am Trying to Break Your Heart” and I was so confused. She let me borrow the CD and I was immediately hooked. Since then, Wilco has gone on to become one of my all-time favorite bands, and I love everything they do. And even though I’d gone to see them live before hearing Yankee, listening to that album will always feel like my real introduction to just how incredible they are.

This drawing was quick, which is why it could be mistaken for two oddly shaped ears of maize. But it was still a lot of fun. I even used soy sauce to get the off-white background color. Messy, but still a blast to work on.

Today’s prompt in the month-long creative challenge was to draw a plant you have nearby. Luckily, my office is filled with some weird ones. What I decided to draw was some strange cactus that was passed down to me from a departing co-worker. Oddly, it’s blooming in February.

What’s your favorite album? Show me your drawings! You can find me on Facebook and Twitter. And if you’re not already signed up to participate, you can do so on CreativeLive‘s project page here.
