Earth Month Movies

 In Film, Social and Environmental

There have been a lot of really compelling documentaries about environmental and social concerns over the past few years–some of them even getting Oscar nominations and wins (The Cove, Gasland, An Inconvenient Truth). It seems like as time goes on, more and more of these films are helping to raise awareness about threats to the environment and to the earth’s population. And this April–Earth Month–Whole Foods (which has a great 30 Ways in 30 Days campaign on their website) is presenting the Do Something Reel™ Film Festival, a collection of six provocative, character-driven films focused on passionate people making a world of difference.

The traveling festival is hitting 70 cities through the month of April, and the films include subjects a range of important subjects from coal to bee populations, to school lunch programs. Chances are, it’ll be stopping somewhere close to your town. For a list of screening sites, click here. I’m sure this is going to be an informative and inspiring event, so check it out if you can. I’ll see you there.
